Identifying Potential Breakthroughs

A pharmaceutical forecasting group needed
a strong assist to determine the status of potentially breakthrough
drugs for a wasting condition affecting the elderly. The
new treatments promised to modify the disease rather than simply
address its symptoms. A dozen manufacturers were investigating
them. For the new-class drugs in the most advanced stages
of development (Phases II & III), BR&C developed information
and insight on the standing of existing and future clinical trials,
efficacy, side-effects and drug interactions, back-up compounds,
and how the investigating companies planned to define themselves
in the disease-modifying space. For drugs in the earliest
stages of research (Phases I, 0 and pre-clinical), we generated
findings on indications and patient segments being pursued, likelihood
of success, evidence in animal models and anticipated progression
to next development phases. These efforts allowed our client
to assemble a deep-dive comparative analysis of the new drugs,
including their likely effectiveness, time to market, expected
use with existing treatments, and potential to fundamentally change
the way the wasting disease is treated.
Health Care Data Warehousing

A large health-care group needed insight into
the increasing use of data warehousing and mining technology by
major health-care players, including providers, drug concerns and
insurers. BR&C was engaged to explore the data warehouse offerings
and business direction of five large consulting organizations and
three boutique firms which help design and install the new systems.
We succeeded in generating a broad portfolio of findings about
each company, including the following:
- Health-care offerings
- Revenue drivers & growth goals
- Executive philosophies
- Synergies within each company
|
- Lead competitors & marketing strategy
- Qualifications of the work force
- Partnerships & alliances
- Current & desired customers
|
The client used our analysis to map its own successful
entry into the realm of data warehousing and mining.
